Berlin screening time and place

IN THE COOLER will be screened at the ZEBRA festival in Berlin on Friday, October 15th, at the Jesko-approved cinema Babylon("a real art house for true cinema lovers" - says he, premiering in the Franco Dragone show CITY OF DANCING OF WATERS in Macau September 16)

The selection committee at the 16th Annual Brno Film Festival in the Czech Republic has selected IN THE COOLER for official competition.

The festival runs from October 13 to 17.

IN THE COOLER to play in Berlin

IN THE COOLER has been accepted into the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival in Berlin, which runs from October 14 to 17, 2010.

We'll post screening time(s) and any other pertinent information as soon as we get it.

Bravo! broadcast delayed

Bravo! has still not scheduled a broadcast of IN THE COOLER. Sounds like they have too many films, not enough time.

From an e-mail:

"we have many many shorts (many which were delivered before yours as well) which are waiting for airdates, but just do not have enough broadcast hours to get to them all as quickly as we'd like to. right now we are programmed up till the end of august, and are working on programming for season 6 starting in september. we will certainly tell you as soon as it is scheduled for broadcast."

So when we know, you'll know!

Sending, waiting

While we wait for the film to be broadcast on Bravo! in the Spring, I am quietly working to get it seen wherever possible. I have sent it to a distributor and am waiting for their selection committee to weigh in. At the same time, I am using the shortfilmdepot site to send it out to various festivals. Here, again, it's a waiting game while we wait to hear from whether we make the cut or not.

So, it's quiet, but not without forward movement of a kind.

Already time to look back?

Now that IN THE COOLER has been launched, I have been busy registering the film at the short film depot site, and sending it out to festivals. After the holidays, I will actively be seeking a distributor, and taking care of various accounting details.

I am a creative person by nature and daily practice, but film history is filled with examples of creators who produce. And I find that, the older I get, the more it is becoming apparent to me that there will be no substitute for rolling up my sleeves and getting my hands dirty. This is not only true re: COOLER, but on other projects that I hope to be able to blog about in due course.

In the meantime, here is a short clip I shot with my Sony Mini HD camera back in September, at the Corona. It shows Jacob directing the crew and the cast, and give the viewer some idea of just how smooth the process was.

We premiered our film to friends, cast and crew last night. We were completely spoiled - many came out despite the first snow storm of the year, and, worse, one of the metro lines breaking down,

Laughter and warm applause, lots of encouragement, and universal appreciation of the cast's work.

Exhausted today. But this is just the beginning. There are special people to send the film to, festivals to enter, the Bravo! broadcast in Spring, and there was talk last night of lining up a distributor.

But for now, we'll let the Cooler hum quietly by itself until the New Year.
